The maximum amount of SSI you can receive is $967/month in 2025. If you don’t pay for housing, the amount you’re eligible for is reduced by 1/3rd, and the maximum amount you can receive is $645.


If you live with family or friends and don’t pay for housing, you can set up a rental agreement and pay at least $322 in rent to avoid the 1/3rd reduction in benefits.
