The Student Earned Income Exclusion is for students under age 22 who are regularly attending school. That means 8 hours per week for college students and 12 hours per week for high school students, with some exceptions.
The Student Earned Income Exclusion lets you exclude up to $2,350 of earned income per month and up to $9,460 per year from your countable earned income. It’s meant to let students work part time, especially during school breaks, without losing their SSI.
